San Jose is made up of many burrows, including Willow Glen and Almaden Valley. Given that San Jose is the county seat of Santa Clara County, many county government facilities are located in the city, including eight courthouses of the Superior Court, one of which being the downtown Family Justice Center Courthouse (FJCC).

The brand new FJCC opened to the public on August 15, 2016. Cases involving Family Law, Juvenile Dependency, Drug Court and the Court’s Self-Help Center are located at the FJCC. It is located at 201 N. First Street, San Jose, CA 95113 at the corner of W. St. James and N. First Street in downtown San Jose and just few blocks away from Mello & Pickering, LLP. There are no longer Family Law courthouses in either Morgan Hill or Sunnyvale, now all cases in Santa Clara County, including Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga, and Sunnyvale, are heard at the FJCC. Some of the common areas of family law cases include, adoption, annulment, child custody and visitation, child custody modification, child support, contested divorce, domestic partnership, emancipation of minors, family court orders of protection, grandparent child custody and visitation, guardianship law, paternity, property settlement, restraining orders, spousal support, and termination of parental rights.
